WHO WE ARE.

The Pawahari Smriti Parishad School is a unique school established to address specific needs of poor, disabled, and mentally and physically handicapped children: specifically, the blind, deaf, and mute. Approximately 140 students are currently enrolled in this distinguished school where students are taught how to adapt to conditions they have been born with.
Dr. Shakuntala Rai is the principal, owner, coordinator, and administrator of this amazing institution. Government funding and generous private donations keep the school running in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, India. This is the school's official website.
Each year, 40-70 eligible students are added and trained in the school. Depending on their needs, they are enrolled in either the Pawahari Blind School or the Pawahari Deaf and Dumb School. The Pawahari Blind School was inaugurated at a ground-breaking ceremony by St. Ram Kripal Ji Maharaj, a very well-known social worker and commissioner.

Separately, the Pawahari Smriti Parishad Project (The P. S. Parishad Project) aims to raise money for cause-specific schools in India that are deprived of sufficient funding for school supplies, which in turn can impact a student's learning ability. This project is run in North Carolina by Bhavya Rai. Proceeds from fundraising from this project go to the fund created in honor of the P. S. Parishad school.
Begun with a grant from Key Club International, the first school this project is targeting to aid is the Pawhari Smriti Parishad School; the project aims to expand to impact as many schools and organizations as possible in future years. To help support schools like the P.S. Parishad School through this organization, we encourage you to donate.
